The financial crisis has led to a raft of corporate defaults, and many market participants foresee a rise in corporate restructuring activity as the economy continues to stabilize and banks resume lending activity. Bankruptcies have become increasingly complex as corporates balance sheets contain complex debt structures, which has made restructuring more of a challenge. As hedge funds increasingly seek to enter this market, and existing players such as private equity firms manage existing deals, many have questioned what lies ahead for the industry.
