President's Welcome

Andrew Pepper - NEW

Welcome to the TMA UK website

I am delighted to be appointed President of TMA UK for 2017. My personal mission is for the TMA to be known for its "Thought Leadership and Networking" in our chosen field. We must make it easy for Members to understand and receive our benefits, and for Sponsors to obtain real value - be it by enhanced Branding or enhanced billings. We are run by members - for members.

The TMA is a truly global, member-centric organisation with over 8,000 members worldwide in 20 countries 11 of which are in Europe, with an additional two conditional chapters in Croatia and Ukraine, and the newest TMA Chapter, TMA Serbia. We are proud to welcome members from all parts of the turnaround market, including accountants, alternative lenders, hedge funds, private equity houses, lawyers, corporate finance specialists, valuers and banks and even unions and members of Her Majesty’s government. TMA UK is honoured to be sponsored by over 27 turnaround organisations.

We offer our members over 30 events annually across 11 regions in the UK. Under a new initiative these regional events will be enhanced over the coming year.

We have also spent a lot of effort in helping two sub-sections of our membership grow - namely NOW (Network of Women) and NextGen. TMA NOW was created to help connect the industry's leading women, provide opportunities for leadership, development and improve networking skills. TMA NextGen offers networking and educational opportunities tailored to those in the early stages of their career with 10 years or less experience within the restructuring industry.

2017 will be an interesting year. We have seen our Members and Sponsors face many challenges in 2016 in what I would describe as a difficult market. They contribute a significant amount of wealth to the UK economy through their own organisations, but also by revitalising businesses that have lost their way. As a major contributor to the economy we need to raise our voice and demonstrate the positive economic role that we play. We also need to make businesses aware of the breadth and depth of support that is available to them via the TMA if they run into trouble, thereby maximising the opportunity of a successful turnaround.

The TMA is a non-profit making organisation run primarily by volunteers from our membership group. I would like to add my personal thanks to them for the work that they will do in making the TMA such a valuable association for its Membership and Sponsors.

With all these connections, we have a wonderful opportunity to enhance our Members and Sponsors experience within the TMA. I would urge everyone with an interest in this sector to revisit us and understand the changes that we will be making.
